You don't need to read notes, own an acoustic piano, or have played a day in your life. You need a keyboard and about half an hour. Your first lesson ends with you playing something that sounds like music — and, within a year or so, reading it yourself.
Playing first, reading later
Simply Music is an Australian method built by music educator Neil Moore. It teaches the way people actually learn to talk: make a sound first, pick up the symbols later. A student who cannot read a note is playing full pieces within a few weeks — blues, classical, contemporary, and the kind of accompaniment you would play behind a singer. Reading is delayed rather than dropped, and when it does arrive it goes in quickly, because there is already a library of music to attach it to.
Any device you own
Lessons run on the Piano At Home platform. All you need is a piano or keyboard and a laptop, tablet or phone — whatever you already have.

Thank you for visiting. Teaching piano this way is the most enjoyable part of my week, and my aim is simply to help as many people as possible get to the point where they can play the songs they actually love.
If you have ever thought you were not musical, I can tell you that almost everyone is. And if you tried lessons years ago and found them slow or frustrating, that is not a reflection of your ability — it is usually the method. Simply Music is a genuinely different way in, and most students notice the difference within a few weeks.
What I notice most, a year or two in, is students who have stopped needing me to tell them what to play next. They hear something they like, work out how it goes, and teach themselves it. That is the part of the method I would not give up for anything.
